{"id":758,"date":"2022-10-05T14:31:36","date_gmt":"2022-10-05T14:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.museociviconepi.it\/en\/?post_type=monumento&#038;p=758"},"modified":"2023-01-20T17:59:28","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T17:59:28","slug":"natural-trails","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/www.museociviconepi.it\/en\/monuments\/natural-trails\/","title":{"rendered":"Natural Trails"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The area is also cut by several streams originated from Cimini mountains that flow into the Treia river, a tributary of the Tevere river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The landscape, seen from above, appears as a&nbsp;<strong>expanse interrupted by deep cracks<\/strong>&nbsp;which take the form of steep ravines, the so called&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;forre&#8221;<\/strong>. The most suggestive nature trails are born precisely within these characteristic rifts that are the result of a&nbsp;<strong>very ancient geological process<\/strong>. The rich plant life is dominated by holly oaks, turkey oaks and maples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/museo-civico-di-nepi\/image\/upload\/t_museo\/v1587390452\/natura-02_jjbqcr.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most interesting nature trail is the narrow tuff trail which allows to reach the Castel Sant&#8217;Elia Basilica through the local stream called&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Il Pizzo&#8221;<\/em>. This trail offers also&nbsp;<strong>archeological beauties<\/strong>&nbsp;such as the&nbsp;<strong>pre-roman ancient road<\/strong>&nbsp;known as&nbsp;<strong><em>\u201cI Cavoni\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. Through this evocative ancient road it is possible to climb the Forra and to reach \u201cLa Massa\u201d area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/museo-civico-di-nepi\/image\/upload\/t_museo\/v1587390454\/natura-03_zaegau.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then by crossing an evocative&nbsp;<strong>medieval bridge<\/strong>&nbsp;the Castel Sant Elisa Basilica can be reached. Nearby stands the must-see&nbsp;<strong><em>\u201cPicchio&#8217;s Falls\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, along Falisco river, whose water lap lush vegetation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/museo-civico-di-nepi\/image\/upload\/t_museo\/v1587390451\/natura-01_uyzyci.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Nepi rises in a volcanic area and it is surrounded by steep ravines called \u201cForre\u201d, generated by ancient geological processes.
