The Civic Museum of Nepi is an institution open to the public, available to all citizens and visitors who want to use the museum services disclosed in this Service Card.
The Municipality of Nepi undertakes to support and develop the Museum, respecting the cultural heritage and the visitors themselves who receive the services.
With the Service Card, the Civic Museum of Nepi presents the services available to facilitate access and use, establishes the quality standards and provides the necessary information to verify compliance, identifies the improvement objectives and allows users to express their own assessments on the services provided.
The Service Card, a fundamental tool for communication between the Museum and visitors and for the protection of users’ rights, was approved by resolution of the Municipal Council n. 40 of 03/07/2020 and was developed considering the most recent reference regulations:
- Decree of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities 10 May 2001 – Act of address on technical-scientific criteria and on the functioning and development standards of museums;
- Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape, approved by Legislative Decree 22 January 2004, n. 42;
- Decree of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism 23 December 2014 – Organization and operation of state museums;
- Law 12 November 2015, n. 182 – containing “Urgent measures for the use of the historical and artistic heritage of the Nation;
- Decree of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism no. 113 – on “Adoption of the minimum uniform quality levels for museums and places of culture of public belonging and activation of the national museum system”; Annex I “Uniform quality levels for museums”;
- Decree of the General Director of Museums of 20 June 2018 n. 542 – containing “First methods of organization and operation of the National Museum System”.

The Service Card is inspired by the following general principles:
Equality and impartiality
All users must be able to access the services offered by the Civic Museum of Nepi under the same conditions. Equality is also intended as a prohibition of any unjustified discrimination and therefore all the necessary initiatives will be put in place to adapt the methods of providing the service to the needs of users with disabilities.
Continuity
The services must be rendered with continuity and regularity, except in cases of force majeure. In the event of impediments, the Civic Museum of Nepi undertakes to promptly notify users and take all necessary measures to minimize possible inconvenience.
Effectiveness and efficiency
The Civic Museum pursues the objective of continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the service, adopting the most functional technological, organizational and procedural solutions for the purpose.
Participation
Each user can propose observations, needs and make suggestions to improve the service. The Civic Museum of Nepi provides feedback to the user about the reports and proposals made by it within one month.
Courtesy
Courteous and respectful treatment of the user must be ensured. The personnel assigned to the public must be identifiable, available and prepared to respond promptly and correctly to any information and / or request.
Clarity and comprehensibility
Museum staff is required to pay the utmost attention to the effectiveness and clarity of the language used in relations with the user.
Validity and updating
The Charter is approved starting from the enforceability of the approval resolution. The update is scheduled every three years and every time it is necessary for changes to the services provided.
Advertising
The Charter is made public online through the Museum’s website and, in paper form, is available to users at the Museum’s headquarters.
Civic Museum of nepi
Establishment and legal nature
The Civic Museum of Nepi, owned by the Municipality of Nepi, has been officially open to the public since June 1995. The Museum is organized and operates according to the rules of the Regulations approved by resolution of the Municipal Council n. 26 of 3 May 1999 available online on the Museum website.
Mission
The Civic Museum of Nepi identifies its mission in the definition of “museum” formulated by ICOM (“The museum is a permanent, non-profit institution at the service of society and its development. public and carries out research concerning the material and immaterial testimonies of humanity and its environment; it acquires them, preserves them, communicates them and, above all, exhibits them for the purposes of study, education and pleasure “), sharing their general purposes. Specifically, it aims to preserve, preserve, enhance and promote the study of its collection, in order to contribute to the better knowledge of the cultural heritage of the town of Nepi and its territory.
Functions
The Museum, an important documentation center of the territorial reality, fulfills its mission through:

Opening Hours
The Museum guarantees openness to the public for visits to the exhibition halls from Tuesday to Sunday, except January 1, December 25 and 26, at the following times:
Winter opening hours (from October 1st to May 31):
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11 – 01 AM, 03 – 05 PM Saturday and Sunday 10 – 01 AM, 03 – 06 PM
Summer opening hours (from June 1st to September 30):
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11 – 01 AM, 03 – 05 PM Saturday and Sunday 10 – 01 AM, 04 – 07 PM
At the request of the pro tempore Mayor, admission to the Museum may be authorized even outside the established opening hours.
Access to the Museum is subject to the payment of an entrance ticket, with reductions and exemptions approved by the Municipal Council. The rates currently in force and the categories of visitors who are entitled to the reduced ticket and the free ticket are as follows:
- full ticket 4 euro;
- reduced ticket 2 euro;
- organized groups of at least 10 people, by reservation;
- school students and public and private universities;
- over 65;
Free admission:
- under 12;
- people with disabilities;
- resident in the Municipality of Nepi;
- accompanying teachers of school and university groups; < / li>
- tour guides and interpreters in the exercise of their professional activity;
- Journalists upon presentation of a document proving their professional activity;
- members of ICOM (International Council of Museums);
- Personalities hosted by the Administration at representative events.
In the case of exhibitions and cultural events of an extraordinary nature, different rates may be decided in relation to the importance of the event itself.
On the occasion of promotional events, free admission may be allowed to everyone, subject to management decision.
For study or research reasons, free admission may be authorized for specific periods to scholars who request it.
Reception area
In the reception area, information material in Italian and English is available to users regarding:
- historical and artistic notes
- timetables
- map of the town
- activated services (guided tours, etc.)
- eventual events and temporary exhibitions.
Bookshop
A small bookshop specializing in publications concerning the archeology and history of Nepi and the area has been set up in the reception area. The bookshop service is provided during the Museum’s opening hours.
Wardrobe
For reasons of protection of the works, the staff may request to deposit bulky bags, backpacks, umbrellas and any other potentially harmful objects in the spaces equipped with cloakrooms. Use of the cloakroom is free. Any dispute must be made at the time of collection of the objects.
Accessibility for the disabled
Accessibility and internal mobility for disabled users is ensured throughout the structure.
Educational service for school audiences
Educational visits and workshops dedicated to schools of all levels and to non-school groups are available upon reservation. Guided tours are organized both in ordinary and extraordinary opening of the Museum. The service also includes external visits aimed at spreading the knowledge of the historical places of the town and its territory. The service, planned and managed by specialized personnel, is subject to a fee and is available to the school public upon reservation. Reservations can be agreed by telephone and confirmed by filling in the booking form available at the reception area or downloadable from the museum website.
Guided tour service for adults
The guided tour service, run by specialized staff, is subject to a fee and periodically available to adult users, both for visits inside the museum and for external routes. For the visit to the museum, the service can be activated upon reservation for groups of at least four people. Reservations can be arranged by telephone or by e-mail.
Internships and internships
The Museum hosts training internships and training courses for students, undergraduates and graduates from university faculties whose curriculum is consistent with the mission and nature of the institution. The activation and conduct of internships and traineeships are regulated by special agreements and by individual training and orientation projects.
Deposit
The Museum has spaces reserved for the conservation of the artifacts in storage, arranged according to appropriate criteria. The consultation for research and study reasons of the finds kept in storage is subject to authorization on individual request.
Publications
The Museum, compatibly with the financial resources available, curates a series “Archeology and History in Nepi” and produces other scientific publications, information brochures and editorial products of various types with contents relevant to its mission.
Temporary exhibitions and cultural events
The Museum, compatibly with the financial resources available and the regular performance of essential services, plans and organizes exhibitions and cultural events consistent with its mission, also in collaboration with other public and private institutions.

Information to users
The Museum ensures information to users on services and how to use them through the reception area, the Museum’s website, social media and local media.
Suggestions, reports and complaints
We welcome suggestions, reports, proposals and complaints from users regarding the services described in this Charter which can be addressed to: Museo Civico di Nepi, Via Falisca, 31 01036 Nepi (VT); museo@comune.nepi.vt.it or they can be deposited in the special container provided in the reception area of the museum. The forms received (letters, e-mails, etc.) will be answered within 30 days from the date of receipt.
User satisfaction survey
The Museum conducts monitoring of services through the detection of quantitative and qualitative data, in compliance with current legislation on the protection of privacy. The results of this activity, divided into the periodic preparation of questionnaires and sample interviews, are examined to assess the satisfaction of the services offered and to accept any suggestions.
QUALITY STANDARDS AND IMPROVEMENT OBJECTIVES
The Museum intends to adopt the minimum uniform quality levels for museums and places of culture defined by Legislative Decree 113/2018 and intends to join the Museum organization of the Lazio Region and the National Museum System. To check the quality of the services indicated above, quality standards are defined that allow for their evaluation by users and the improvement objectives that the Museum aims to achieve.
